One size doesn't fit all - an extra tall or short person can work in an average sized workspace but with small adjustments there will be an increase in comfort and productivity in the short term.  However, in the long term these reasonable adjustments may reduce the risk of musculo-skeletal disorders resulting in pain, disability and absence from work.

PrehabWorks can advise on small workplace adjustments.

When the guidelines are followed there is always the unexpected.  For example, where many booklets of 10-12 pages are collated and stapled by hand there will be a risk of repetitive stress injury and a high percentage of failed stapler actions. A robust electric stapler at a central location will remedy the above problems and provide an opportunity for changing position and activity. A time/cost benefit may also exist.

This is an example of a reasonable adjustment.

In March 2008 Dame Carol Black presented 'Working for a healthier tomorrow'. She urged us to rethink our ideas about work and sickness to improve our wellbeing, social inclusion and financial security. She suggests that many disabilities and illnesses do not prevent us from working and that by working we gain financially and by social inclusion.

"Healthy, Hired and Happy"
Employers have many regulations regarding employees and their welfare.

For a small financial outlay evaluation of working practices and relationships with employees can lead to development of inclusive and effective working environments. Financial support for individuals may be available through Jobcentre Plus and Employability.

PrehabWorks provides the practical skills to ensure the working day and space suits the current or potential employee.

Employing the right person for the job - a person with a disability may be the one with the best ability to do the job. To help overcome barriers PrehabWorks can assess employees needs, carry out job analysis and recommend changes to the working day, workspace and collaboration with colleagues. Reasonable adjustment is appropriate for existing and potential employees. Your efforts will by rewarded by increased commitment.
